Animating Your Social Marketing Campaign

A successful social marketing campaign is all about effective content released over time. As opposed to a single web video or one-time social media ‘blast’, a campaign requires regular updates that build along a central theme. To use a music term, these updates should ideally crescendo, so that by viewing or listening to previous installments, your audience is guided to and included in the final unveiled piece. This quality over duration idea is greatly aided using content that is conceptually similar, thematically linked, and aesthetically cohesive. I’m here to let you in on a little secret: using animation as a part of your content package is a way to do this that is both easy and effective.

As mentioned in my previous post about animation, the medium allows the user a great level of control. Because web video animation is done frame by frame, you can precisely control what you show and, more importantly, how you show it. Let’s say your company is unveiling a new product and is looking to introduce it’s aesthetic in a bold new way. A great way to do this would be to create a series of animated shorts that feature exactly that aesthetic style – short and sweet pieces of content that whet the appetite and create excitement. I again stress that “animation” is a broad medium – the old view of it as simply cartoons no longer applies. Think it of more as a multifaceted tool set that lets you go beyond the bounds of realism.

Social marketing campaigns are fickle creatures, and they can be successfully implemented by the smallest of increments. It’s all about the quality of content, and animation allows for great content that is oriented to your particular needs.
