I don’t just mean think about it in idle terms, but really focus in on the jargon and language of what your organization does. Think hard about these two ideas:

1) How do we talk about ourselves internally?

2) How do we want other people to talk about us moving forward?

Undoubtedly, there are words or phrases thrown around within an organization or company’s walls. These are important! If they seem too jargon-y or inside baseball, find a way to express the idea of those phrases to someone who has no understanding of what you do. It’s a great way to start organizing yourself around what makes you or your company unique and effective.

On the flip side, think about the way other people perceive you or your organization. Be honest about it.
